Our Main Business Activity
AgResearch comprises a number of renowned New Zealand research centres; most importantly we are made up of individual scientists, technicians and their teams. Their work targets the key issues faced by the pastoral and biotechnology sectors leading to innovative products and systems that benefit all New Zealanders. Essentially, AgResearch’s role is to help New Zealand remain the leading produce of quality pastoral products in the face of significant international challenges.
Who We Are
We are a government owned entity charged with operating on a full commercial basis. Employing just under 1000 staff, including around 300 PhD’s we are NZ’s largest Crown Research Institute. Our consistent profitability enables us to reinvest in our scientific capability to maintain and enhance the support we provide to New Zealand’s pastoral and biotechnology sectors.
Our people come from various locations across the globe forming a cohesive group of dedicated scientists, researchers, farmers and business support people at our five New Zealand campuses. Passion and vibrancy provide the drive and momentum that enables each of our staff to contribute to the New Zealand and international agricultural and pastoral sectors.
