Position Purpose:Ensure effective scale-up from formulation manuals and transfer of formulations to the manufacturing environment. Provide pre-startup and post production reviews. Monitor and assist in production throughput improvements, develop costs reductions, and maintain quality to ensure maximum rates at the best cost with superior quality are achieved. Provide a foundation and foster a learning environment within the team through instruction and technical leadership. Be an active member of the safety committee.

Direct and monitor process formulations. Develop and maintain batch sheets to maximize throughput and minimize downtime. Develop SOPs (standard operating procedures) to monitor and reduce waste within the facility. Monitor and evaluate yields and material usage variances. Minimize cleanout times and increase uptime on equipment. Ensure effective scale-up from formulation manuals and transfer of formulations to the manufacturing environment are completed in the most economical and safe manner.

Actively develop, identify and conduct on the job training of production personnel to improve fundamental knowledge of process formulation, process equipment, safety practices and quality requirements.

Develop, implement and monitor SPC (Statistical Process Control) programs within the plant to improve throughput, reduce overfills and improve reliability of line time and quality. Ensure high safety standards within the areas of responsibility are taken into account and adhered to as governed by local, state and federal regulations, laws and policies as well as Omnium's internal policies and directives.
Work closely with production management team to provide leadership and direction to avoid downtime and prepare for future campaigns. Work with the customer to ensure that quality and process problems are worked out thoroughly to the satisfaction of the customer while controlling internal costs. Actively support the safety committee.

Special projects and activities as directed.

Job Scope: Directly responsible for providing technical leadership for problem solving and expediting production. Responsible for waste minimization for the plant. Provides leadership and sound reasoning for new product evaluations. Responsible for product introductions into the facility in a safe, environmentally sound and profitable manner. Responsible for monitoring, modifying and creating new production batch sheets. Provides input and direction in cost saving opportunities.

This position will have oversight of more than 20 current formulations, while developing processes and/or formulations for new products, expected to be between 3 to 6 per year. The position will monitor and oversee the quality, throughput and material usages of over 20 product lines totaling over 200MM pounds of production of finished product with a market value over 500MM dollars.
Required (Basic) Experience &

Education:BS in chemistry with a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment; combination of other education and experience will be considered

Preferred Experience & Education:Substantial formulations experience in water-based, flowable herbicide.
Formulation experience in EC, EW and SC insecticides and herbicides
Experience in Impregnated granules (on multiple carriers)

Preferred Competencies & Other Skills:Working knowledge of surface-active agents and surface chemistry.
Agricultural and crop protection knowledge and experience.
Experience with EPA regulations
Working knowledge of statistical process controls.
Percentage of Travel:Less than 5%
