Job Title:Scientist-Dairy R&D

Business Unit:Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods division is a leading marketer of a full line of dairy-based consumer, foodservice and food ingredient products across the United States.
Position Purpose:The Scientist will be part of the Land O'Lakes Dairy R&D team of professionals who have broad skill sets and expertise. Motivated and innovative scientsts will have the opportunity to contribute to overall company performace resulting in career growth. Provide knowledge & experience in leading product development and commericialization for Ingredients R&D. Has responsibility leading dairy innovation, customization and new product development projects using the stage gate process in a cross functional setting. Will also be required to trouble-shoot technical service problems with customers and at the plant. Interacts effectively with both internal and external customers.
Required (Basic) Experience &
Education:MS in Food Science, Dairy Science or BS in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 2 yrs experience in business to business customer technical development. Solid understanding of food science principles, technical knowledge of food formulations, ingredient functionality, and project management. Knowledge of product/process/package interactions, manufacturing processes, finished product applications in the ingredient food channel, food processing, QA/HACCP/DHSE requirements, and experience using experimental design. Proven track record in working with external customers to achieve final product.
Required Competencies & Other Skills:Proactive leadership skills used to achieve results through cross functional teamwork with internal and external resources. Effective in project management using the stage gate process. Strong planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple, rapidly changing priorities; focused to achieve customer expectations. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills with technical/business partners/customers and the ability to achieve accelerated time tables while maintaing cooperative working relationships. Proven technical problem solving ability. Experience using statistical design. Preferred experience with emulsion; refrigerated, frozen, spray dried, and shelf stable dairy systems is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Work, Excel and Powerpoint.
Preferred Experience & Education:Ph.D in Food Science, Dairy Science or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university with 7 years of experience in food ingredients business to business food productdevelopment, dairy experience is a plus.
