Winfield Business Unit: Winfield Solutions is an industry leader in crop protection and farm seed products, providing insights an expertise in this area. Our brands include AgriSolutionsTM crop protection products and CROPLAN GENETICS® seed.

Position Purpose:The intern will collect tissue and soil samples on selected inbreeds and hybrids.

Primary responsibilities will include following areas:
Collecting tissue samples from selected inbreeds and hybrids from selected Answer Plots
Collect soil sample from above sights to correlate to tissue samples
Make plant growth measurements and key growth stages to correlate to tissue samples
Organize data into form and order that is directed by John Kinard
Draw out insights from data that can be implanted into the R7 philosophy.

Experience offered:
Interns will gain experience in the use of tissue and soil samples for the management of crop growth and development. Including...
First hand experience translating technical field trial results into data insights.
Experience in the genetic X nutrition interaction
Experience in understanding the growth and development of genetics within the environment.
Professional exposure and relationships in a major agricultural business

Candidates will have the opportunity to work with or interface with diverse groups within WinField Solutions including agronomists, wholesales sales, retail sales, product management and SAA's

Additional job duties and responsibilities will be outlined by the primary supervisor and performance results reviewed mid-term during the internship.

This position will provide training and direction to complete a successful internship. Upon completing this internship, the intern will develop a presentation and communicate to Land O'Lakes-CROPLAN GENETICS sales and product management the data collected through this internship experience.

The goal of this internship is to enhance value to the product division within WinField Solutions, to support regional marketing strategies and improve producer's profitability.

Hours and Schedule:
Interns need to be able to start in late May and work through late August.
Hours will be 45 to 55 hours per week and some overnight travel will be required.

Job Location:
Interns will be assigned to a geography and will work primarily in the field throughout the summer.

Pre-employment drug test and background check required.

Required (Basic) Experience & Education: This position is for someone who is attending college and planning to pursue an agricultural career after graduation. An agriculture background is essential to candidate.

Required Competencies & Other Skills: Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to think critically and agronomically. Candidate needs to have an understanding of corn growth and development and tissue and soil sampling. Basic computer skills and desire to learn and gain experience. Candidates should be able to function with minimum of supervision and good work ethic.
