Business Unit:Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods division is a leading marketer of a full line of dairy-based consumer, foodservice and food ingredient products across the United States.
Position Purpose:This position is responsible for all aspects of plant health and safety programs. It provides leadership and administration to the overall health & safety program by developing an annual plan, achieving consensus on the plan and objectives with the leadership team, and monitoring the progress of the plan against objectives. It completes and/or approves all required regulatory and company reporting documents. This individual will perform hazard analysis within the plant and assist the plant management teams in the development and execution of action plans for the improvement of safety performance; effectively develop, utilize and monitor site safety teams and resources; and keep supervisory/management personnel apprised to eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe practices. This individual will be also responsible for leading all aspects of the safety function including compliance initiatives, training & development, risk assessment, reporting, and the development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs driving a safety culture that promotes an injury free workplace. This individual will work closely with EHS corporate staff to implement the company's initiatives and to lead change in programs.
 

Required (Basic) Experience & Education:BS Degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field. 3-5 years of plant experience in related industry / manufacturing environment. Individual must possess strong technical background in regulation, safety processes, ergonomics, and behavioral safety implementation. Knowledge of Safety Regulations and reporting requirements, OSHA, EPA, Hazardous Materials, GMP, etc. PC proficiencies in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet.

This role does require some flexibility to provide 2nd & 3rd shift support as needed.


Required Competencies & Other Skills:This position interacts with and influences every department and employee; must be able to work independently and as a member of a team including other safety managers, location management, division management, and corporate EHS. Also, this individual must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with proven ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships with internal customers and outside vendors; ability to manage shifting and multiple priorities with calm and confident demeanor; ability to communicate with a variety of people; demonstrated written communication skills; ability to anticipate potential conflicts and/or problems and proactively respond to them; capacity for consistently meeting deadlines; data accuracy, detail orientation, strong organizational skills, and ability to retain confidential information.
