Production Supervisor (Developmental)

Position

Business Unit:Supply Chain includes facilities and processes that operate to manufacture a finished product from raw material and deliver to the end-user. This business unit enhances competitive advantage, efficiency, innovation, quality and consistency.
Position Purpose:This position will provide leadership and oversee the manufacturing operation.

The production supervisor will be responsible to:

Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.

Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production and processing of goods.

Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.

Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.

Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.

Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.

Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.

Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.

Must have strong leadership & communication skills to problem solve any production or employee issues.

Instruct the lead persons in regards to all company policies relating to safety, good manufacturing practices, and personal hygiene. Take necessary actions to assure compliance with the policies that are being communicated and corrections made where required.

Ensure that all maintenance procedures and recommendations are carried out.

Be prepared to perform any additional assignments as directed by his/her Manager on an "As-Needed Basis".
Required (Basic) Experience &

Education:Bachelor degree, preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 3+ years supervisory experience in food manufacturing environment, preferably union environment, with progressive leadership responsibilities.


Required Competencies & Other Skills:Must have strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry skills; ability to communicate with a variety of people and negotiate priorities; demonstrated written communication skills; capacity for consistently meeting deadlines; ability to manage multiple projects; solid organization and detail orientation, and excellent follow-through skills.
Technical/professional knowledge and skills, building a successful team, coaching, decision making, facilitating change, managing conflict, aligning performance for success, initiating action, planning and organizing, delegating and follow-up.
