Monsanto seeks a fixed asset accountant to support the Global Fixed Asset organization.  This position will have direct responsibility for the accounting processes and controls for the asset management and facilities related accounting.  It will have direct responsibility for managing and improving accounting processes and controls for a Fortune 500 company with a high volume of transactions.  This position requires a proactive, highly motivated individual with an aptitude for streamlining manual processes and who can work independently to deliver accurate and timely results.  This person will be expected to drive positive change, including evaluating and streamlining existing processes and controls.
 
Responsibilities include but not limited to
  • Preparing and posting journal entries, including scheduling, analyzing and allocating monthly depreciation expense
  • Posting asset set-up, retirements, transfers, and sales
  • Month-end general ledger close activities, including project closures
  • Coordination of the above activities with project managers and capital owners
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • GAAP research on related topics, and other ad hoc analysis and project-based work
  • Assist with IFRS migration and implementation as needed
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting depreciation expense as needed
 


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor&##39;s degree in Accounting or Finance;  CPA a plus
  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish/Portuguese)
  • Technical skills: proficient with Microsoft Office, SAP and Essbase knowledge a plus
  • Working knowledge of financial statements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team  working skills
  • Customer focused; ability to develop and manage relationship with internal customers
  • Ability to challenge current processes including a strong orientation towards process improvement
