*Assist in the various research programs.
*Perform fieldwork including planting, thinning, spraying, harvest.
*Perform lab work which includes cleaning, processing, packeting.
*Conduct field equipment maintenance.
*Transport field equipment to off site locations.Perform basic computer data entry.
*Assist in seed and supply inventory and ordering.
*Conditioning of the research seed.
*Treat seed with fungicides.Prepare and ship seed samples.
*Maintain involvement in all activities of the nursery.
*Supervise temporary employees.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience: *Keyboarding and computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook)
*Good organizational skills Legible handwriting
*Ability to manage multiple tasksAbility to work independently
*Ability to accurately gather and record data
*Ability to maintain a safe work environment
*High School Diploma or equivalent required. AA degree preferred.
*Good knowledge of common agricultural equipment (planter, tractor, combine etc.)
*Two (2) to four (4) year's comparable experience in agriculture preferred.
*Valid Driver's License
*Ability to obtain CDL license
*Bilingual in English & Spanish beneficial
Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges: *Periodic overtime will be required.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lifting 35-50 pounds.
*WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to withstand long hours of walking in fields. Work may be performed under environmental conditions of extreme high or low temperatures and moisture. Exposure to high levels of potential allergens. Possible exposure to chemical treatments
*Domestic travel required with occasional overnight stays.
