Role Purpose/Accountabilities:

- Conducts field evaluation and testing of agronomic solutions to determine their fit within different business models as well as value propositions across a range of crops, agronomic zones and crop micro-markets
- Develops proof points and performance data needed to effectively position and create market demand for integrated solutions
- Works with Crop Solution Development Managers, Crop Experts and others to develop ideas, protocols and testing strategies for integrated solutions
- Manages CRO collaborations for assigned agronomic solution projects

Accountabilities: -

Commercial Unit Business Accountabilities:

- Assist Crop Solution Development Managers with determination of solution ideas and study design. This involves identifying and prioritizing important study topics, determining seed and other agricultural product inputs, designing studies, and making all necessary pre-planting preparations to conduct studies (obtaining technology testing agreements, obtaining seed treatment materials, determining common use rates/activities of other agricultural products as well as obtaining products for inclusion in studies, creating plot plans, field maps, and counting/packaging seed).
- Provide solution information and supporting agronomic recommendations to Syngenta personnel, including Crop Portfolio Managers, Crop Solutions Development Managers and Crop Experts.
- Work with R&D colleagues to access technology and capability

Overarching accountabilities:

- Plant, maintain, and harvest solution plots and bulk areas. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, applying/implementing treatments, collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season. Fall activities include harvest counts and actual plot harvest.
- Plant, maintain, and harvest regulated solution plots and bulk areas.
- Analyze data and prepare agronomic solution reports and presentations in collaboration with Solutions Data Team. Prioritize and conduct statistical analysis of yield and in-season data for all assigned studies. Interpret analysis and transfer knowledge gained to Crop Teams.
- Manage CRO and other collaborative relationships to extend internal capabilities for agronomic evaluations. Work with CROs on agreements, protocol establishment, securing inputs, monitoring CRO progress and obtaining study results and interpretation.
- Ensure Syngenta assets and equipment are properly maintained. This includes routine maintenance activities, seasonal equipment preparation, design and/or creation of new pieces of equipment to improve treatment effectiveness and/or general farm efficiency.
- Manages “home-site” as well as “remote” testing sites

Transition accountabilities:

- Establish the networks required to drive solution development for each assigned crop
- Build out the structures, processes and systems needed for local implementation of the solution testing strategy
- Support the development of an initial Integrated solutions strategy along with an implementation plan
- Quickly assess and build Integrated Solutions delivery capability

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Critical knowledge:
- Ph.D. or MS degree preferred with experience in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology or other related field
- Understanding of current agriculture crop protection and seed industry offerings and how they might be combined in integrated solutions
- Extensive crop knowledge in assigned crops

Critical experience:

- Experience with crop protection, Seeds or Seed Care biological field research and data analysis.
- Management of CRO/COI relationships for data generation
- Working across technology platforms

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

- Understanding of statistical principals and data analaysis
- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Excellent understanding of general agronomy, pest management, crop physiology, plant growth and development and grower production practices on assigned crops
- Excellent understanding of plot experimental design and techniques to deliver data to meet project objectives
- Fundamental understanding and/or experience in conducting integrated solution evaluations
- Ability to use statistics and other data analysis tools to evaluate value models and proof points in order to convert data into knowledge that can be effectively used for decisions
