A great career opportunity to work cooperatively as part of our leadership team in partnering with stakeholders while continuing to progress your science.

In your role as Team Leader Farm Systems South, based at Invermay, near Dunedin or Lincoln, near Christchurch, you will lead a team with a diverse research portfolio across the dairy, sheep, beef and deer sectors. The team undertakes basic, strategic, applied research and technology transfer for the farm system and its components with a strong focus on developing, testing and demonstrating technologies which deliver on-farm systems benefits.

AgResearch is a leader in pastoral research and science innovation. We combine New Zealand’s natural advantage with world-leading thinking to enhance the value, productivity and profitability of New Zealand’s pastoral, agri-food and agri-technology sector.

Inspired leadership is pivotal to our approach. It is a time of energy and enthusiasm for the future.

Within our matrix your focus will be on ensuring we have the necessary capability to meet current and future sector needs. Key activities of this role include providing leadership and guidance to staff that supports their career development and realisation of their full potential, monitoring and managing staff utilisation, assessing the quality of capability, and making recommendations for Core Funding investment into strategically-important areas of capability. In cooperation with other Team Leaders and Impact Leaders you will look to ensure we are well placed to maximise the benefits from Science.

Applicants will need to have a proven track record in science and be able to provide clear direction and motivate and empower others. Essential attributes include the ability to work inclusively with enthusiasm and energy, with a “One AgResearch” approach, and to take responsibility for outcomes including situations where challenging decisions need to be made.

AgResearch will provide you with a dynamic and friendly working environment, excellent working conditions, ongoing support and superb training and professional development opportunities.

To apply please submit your application including a Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter highlighting:

  • Your motivation to apply for the role.
  • The skills/attributes/behaviours you bring which support your application.
  • Your Science research background and expertise.
