SUMMARY: This position is responsible for designing / re-engineering manufacturing processes that meet the business units' requirements; focusing on optimizing plant capacity, cost reduction, quality improvement, revenue enhancement, and customer satisfaction. This position also provides the technical information, innovative solutions, and support to operations, that when applied will facilitate operations' successful achievement of their strategic objectives. The position is responsible for interacting with internal customers to gather relevant information in order to create a well defined business plan and requirements. Using this information will design manufacturing processes applying industrial, process engineering, and LEAN manufacturing principles, among others. Responsible for creating detailed functional specifications of the design processes to be handed over to the technical design group. During the manufacturing process design this position is responsible for: defining product flow diagrams, key performance indicators that can be used to measure the success of the process, implementation requirements, specific equipment needs, labor; material handling; processing requirements; developing and reviewing design specification for manufacturing processes; performing analysis and create appropriate documentation as needed to implement process changes; leading cross functional meetings and functional specifications reviews; collaborating with IS to define technology and hardware needs; collaborating with the design of the training methodology, and training material development; acting as a change agent during the start up phase of the project; defining post-project support structure and continuous improvement plan. In addition, this position is responsible for conducting customer acceptance tests and document lessons learned to improve future process designs. Assist with industrial engineers to ensure that the manufacturing process system is functioning sufficiently by analyzing the key performance indicators, providing on-going process support and end-user training, and ensure continuous process improvement activities are taking place.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering or other technical area. Equivalent work experience may be acceptable.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or related area with proven analysis experience
Computer Skills: Auto Cad preferred, Micro Soft Office)
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills required, some speaking in groups of executive management
Travel: 12 or more trips per year.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Limited Supervision of drafting personnel
Special Skills: Exposure to and participation in lean manufacturing initiatives; ability to lead cross-functional teams; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence cross functional teams with sound technical input; strong problem solving skills; proficiency in conflict resolution.
