The primary responsibility of this role is to manage all research & development greenhouse projects including, but not limited to, transformant propagation, event segregation, event increase and event introgression of Bayer CropScience (BCS) traits in cotton. This position also organizes all quality control (QC) testing/results and is responsible for maintaining accurate and current records of inventory. Efforts from this position will contribute to research event evaluation, timely submissions for deregulation, and successful commercialization of BCS traits in cotton in the US.

The incumbent will: • Plan and implement propagation of research and development cotton events; • Manage greenhouse staff activities and development; • Organize quality control (QC) testing and maintain accurate records of results; • Track and maintain all pedigree, generation, stocks, etc. information in BioMat/ResMan; • Organize all introgression activities for research events into elite germplasm; • Oversee all functions of greenhouse control to ensure optimal conditions for production quality, quantity, and time efficiency; • Ensure compliance with all Regulatory, Quality Management System (QMS), Plant Product Integrity (PPI), BioSafety and Stewardship guidelines; • Travel, as needed, approximately 10%, domestically and internationally. The selected candidate is required to possess the following: • Ph.D.or M.S. degree in agronomy, horticulture, greenhouse management or related field + 5 years experience in greenhouse management and/or agricultural cotton industry experience; • Current knowledge of cotton production – methods, sampling and data analysis; • Demonstrated practical skills with sound understanding of greenhouse seed production operations; • Ability to troubleshoot and modify greenhouse procedures to ensure effective and efficient processes; • Problem solving skills must include organization and scheduling of multiple tasks and data management; • Extremely good organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in a team environment; • Well developed interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization and external contacts; • Proven commitment to Stewardship, Regulatory and Safety compliance; • Excellent computer skills and the ability to use various software programs, including Microsoft Office, Excel, statistical analysis software knowledge and an aptitude for data manipulation assimilation and presentation; • Ability to travel, as needed, approximately 10%, domestically and internationally.
