Cargill Beef has an exciting Brand Manager opportunity available in Wichita, Kansas.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies and programs to build demand for the “Ranchers Registry”, “Excel Genuinely Better” and Excel/CRB Ground Beef” brands.  This role will be accountable for direction, plan development and execution of brand product performance to achieve annual and long-term profit goals.  The role will be responsible in analyzing market conditions and competitive positions, developing consumer and trade communication to support brand development and administering brand budget and information.  Plays a key strategic and tactical role in brand quality improvement, new product or line extension development, testing, cost reduction, as well as formulation of advertising and promotional programs.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for leading a team of associate brand managers that will support the programs that this role is responsible for, and will be working closely with Procurement, Operations, Sales, Value Creation, and R&D to manage product line offering.
 
Principal Accountabilities:

  • 30% - Develop Brand strategy for each brand and drive it through the sales team network 
  • 15% - Develop and manage a budget for each brand, meeting short and long term goals 
  • 15% - Develop and maintain relationship with Safeway Marketing team 
  • 10% - Work with consumer insights team to develop understanding of consumer trends 
  • 10% - Work closely with retail and food service customers to drive sales and promotions 
  • 10% - Monitor metrics to determine effectiveness of marketing spend along with managing and directing the assigned agency spend 
  • 10% - Manage and supervise associate brand managers to support performance of the program


Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3 – 5 years marketing/brand management experience
  • Consumer packaged goods
  • Protein experience
  • Retail and/or Food Service experience
  • Project Management 
  • The ability to multi task on a regular basis 
  • Leadership and Supervisory skills
Preferred:
  • MBA Preferred
  • Brand management with perishable products 
  • Strategy development 
  • Business Management – experience with a P&L
  • Budget development and execution
  • Microsoft applications – Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid work ethic, attention to details and strong time management skills
