Production Manager

Looking for a full-time Production Manager for a cow calf operation that also manages 1500 pasture acres and 2500 acres of crop ground. The main profit center is alfalfa hay, followed by cattle, grains, and other forage. In 2012, they will be offering land owners soybeans and wheat as well.

Their goal is to profit from creating optimum net income from the crops and pasture in a way that is sustainable and profitable to the land owners. One key objective is to treat vendors and customers the same. They strive to do business in a way that benefits both parties, sustainably and profitably.

Position Description:

  • Establish crop budgets and "best use" scenario planning before the season.
  • Develop protocols for equipment and make equipment upgrade recommendations.
  • Execute the production of crop operation according to budget, protocols, scenario planning and resources available in a timely fashion for optimum production.
  • Must be able to manage employees and land owners in a way that is honorable.
  • Maintain records of the complete production process and have them readily available for general management to analyze and use for decision making in the Sales and Marketing department.
  • Oversee day-to-day labor as well as pitch in to help when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy/Business or related field
  • Superb communication skills
  • Computer literate, especially with Excel, Access, and other database and analytical tools
  • Record-keeping skills
  • Ability to build protocols
  • Ability to analyze seed, fertilizer, and chemical information
