QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Controls or equivalent work experience. Doctorate or Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Extensive product design and development experience in hydraulics (especially electro-hydraulics) 10+ years.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience managing a team or project management. Experience handling performance and behavioral issues & career planning and development preferred.
  • Proficiency in design analysis.
  • Previous experience managing major project development projects from conception to release.
  • Experience managing a global engineering team preferred.
  • An extensive amount of independent thinking is required. 10-20 years experience in Farm Equipment, Automotive, Truck, Mobile Equipment, material handling, mining, off-highway, or construction equipment required -- Farm Equipment Experience Preferred.
  • JOB DESCRIPTION: Major Farm Equipment Company is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Hydraulic Systems (Hydraulic Controls & Electro-Hydraulics). Serve as engineering leader for electro-hydraulic (EH) systems on heavy duty vehicle equipment. Works closely with the Hydraulic Component, Electrical, Software, Simulation, Test Lab, and Vehicle Groups to design and develop EH systems. Manages the workload and prioritization of projects as well as the personnel issues and career development of a team of project & design engineers. Develops project plans, leads, supervises and reviews the work of project and design engineers to ensure the efficient and timely completion of project milestones within schedule and budgetary guidelines. Evaluates/develops new hydraulics controls and determines appropriate fit for respective work and propel circuits. Makes hiring decisions and takes necessary disciplinary actions, including employee discharge and is responsible for the career development of engineering team members. Works with internal Project Engineers and Competency Center managers to ensure available human resources and skill sets are allocated to achieve plan goals. Prepares major milestone review presentations for platform and executive leadership. Assists in the creation of budgets, forecasts and capital equipment requirements with economic justifications linked to design and product development activities. Ensures completion of engineering activities for meeting platform goals. Addresses performance or behaviors that are not contributing to the achievement of project goals. Addresses training needs and develops career paths for subordinate engineering team members. Fosters an environment that welcomes and encourages new and innovative design concepts, inventions, patents and product opportunities for improvement; may personally obtain inventions/patents giving the corporation a competitive edge over industry competitors.
