Role Purpose/Accountabilities:

Currently recruiting students graduating in December 2011 or May/June of 2012 for this program.

Successfully learn and acquire the needed business knowledge, skills and attributes required for placement into future leadership or management positions within Production and Supply (P&S) at Syngenta. Development program career tracks will be built around one of the following- Agronomy, Operations (Supply Chain) or Engineering disciplines. Generally comprised of a two year curriculum to develop a broad understanding accomplished by completion of two to three rotations within P&S. Locations will vary with flexibility and relocation required, and determined by business needs, candidate’s capabilities and interests. Focus is to establish a pool of highly motivated and well-rounded future leaders in the organization.

Accountabilities: /

Critical knowledge:
* Develop a thorough understanding of the Production and Supply Operations, including locations, management teams and products.
* Develop an understanding of LEAN and Six Sigma processes and application.
* Develop competence in SAP to enable operational effectiveness in production plant core business processes. Successfully complete and engage in all training requirements. Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of end to end Production and Supply processes including the Sales and Operation Planning process.
* Maintain accountability for portfolio of products in key business areas or project based role as determined by the business.
* Demonstrate success in leading teams, project management and meeting management accountability for key stakeholders.

AGRONOMY TRACK (Location options Minnetonka, MN; IA; IL; NE; Greensboro, NC):

* BS degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology, Operations, or related field.
* Specialization in Field Crop Production.
* Assist the Plant Agronomist in developing and maintaining programs regarding agronomic issues in corn and/or soybean fields including fertility, weed and insect programs. Manage cost of these activities, evaluate results for process improvements. Make pesticide and fertility recommendation to optimize yield and Cost of Goods Produced (COGP).
* Develop competence in Seed cleaning, harvest operations and distribution activities. Maintains reports, records, identifies historical benchmarks to establish goals.
* Assist Plant Management in planning and communicating acreage selection to growers. Work with Plant Management Team to set schedules, manage and determine workforce needs. Provide training and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with HSE policies. -Complete operations management assignments in support of the Planning, Logistics, or Procurement areas. Finance or Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) as determined by business need and candidate fit.

PRODUCTION/PROCESS ENGINEERING TRACK (Location options Greensboro, NC; LA; TX; NE; Minnetonka, MN):

**All Engineering positions are filled for this role in 2012. If you would like to be considered for 2013 you may apply now and be held for consideration or apply in August 2012.**

* BS degree in Engineering discipline.
* Specialization in Chemical Synthesis and Formulation, Fill and Pack.
* Complete assignments in Production Process Technology Development or Plant Engineering and Unit Operations.
* Support to Capital Projects and Production Start-ups, Pilot Plant Scale up and Development.
* Complete operations management assignments in support of the Planning, Toll Manufacturing, Logistics, or Procurement areas. Finance or Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) assignments as determined by business need and candidate fit.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT TRACK (Location options Greensboro, NC; TX; NE; Minnetonka, MN):

* BS or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Sciences, Supply Chain or Operations Management, Business discipline or related field.
* Specialization in Operations Management.
* Complete Assignments in support of Operational Planning, Logistics, or Indirect/Direct Procurement areas. Other potential assignments may include Asset planning or Distribution. Finance, or Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) as determined by business need and candidate fit.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE

* AGRONOMY TRACK: BS degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Ag Systems Technology, Operations, or related field.
* PRODUCTION/PROCESS ENGINEERING TRACK: BS degree in Engineering discipline.
* OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT TRACK: BS or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Supply Chain, Sciences or Operations Management, Business discipline or related field.
* Knowledge of general industry procedures, practices, and terminology.
* Family farm background or knowledge of agricultural production beneficial.

Critical experience:
* Demonstrated leadership in internships, co-ops, business or academic arena.
* Demonstrated academic achievement.
* Leading teams and working in team environment.
* Exposure to multinational companies and processes a benefit.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Position requires being able to walk seed production fields or CP production sites in any weather, including hot and humid conditions.
* Position may require working 7 days a week
