Transportation Planner

Function:Supply Chain

Position Purpose:As a Transportation Planner, your responsibilities will be to:
o Develop and coordinate the tactical transportation plans for multiple manufacturing facilities.
o Execute inbound, interplant, and outbound transportation plans.
o Tender freight to carriers using TMS.
o Manage transportation events to ensure manufacturing and customer satisfaction.
o Build carrier relationships and enhance carrier utilization while maintaining division requirements for service and on time deliveries.

You will interface with Material Resource Planners / Inbound Logistics Specialists, Distribution Resource Planners, Deployers, SLA's, manufacturing and warehousing personnel, customer service representatives and service providers.

Other responsibilities include:
o Understanding freight bill payments
o Assisting Accounts Payable in resolution and corrective action
o Proactively develop, recommend and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs in support of the transportation strategy developed by the Transportation department.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education:. 4 year college degree
. Preferred Supply Chain Background
. Internal applicants must be actively pursuing 4 year degree

. Identify and secure lower transportation costs through:
o Inbound freight savings and/or ingredient origin changes
o Outbound freight savings through new routing or backhaul opportunities

. Minimum of one Professional Knowledge training course per year

System Knowledge - Demonstrates an understanding of TMS functionality by following established business processes in Transportation planning.

Feed Business Knowledge -Basic understanding of the feed business; including inputs, the transformation process, and our customers and markets.

Building Strategic Relationships -Demonstrates ability to build strategic external relationships with suppliers and carriers, and internal relationships with customer service, warehousing, manufacturing, and marketing, to execute Transportation plans. Discuss relevant relationships in an interview setting.

Critical Thinking Skills - Demonstrates ability to be proactive in evaluating the supply chain network and available resources to optimize inventory carrying costs and reduce freight expense while balancing service. Document supply chain network changes and quantify impact via the Decision-Making Tool

Conceptual Thinking - Demonstrates ability to introduce new concepts to replenishment and transportation planning, challenging existing ideas and processes supporting diversity. Document implemented new concepts and quantify impact via the Decision-Making Tool
