Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Regulatory Protein Sciences team.  This individual will support the registration of Monsanto&##39;s biotechnology-derived products through assessment and stewardship of the proteins in these products, and by conducting allergy studies and monitoring research developments in the allergy community.    
The Regulatory Protein Sciences organization is a fast-paced, timeline-driven, team-based GLP environment. The successful candidate will have a proven record of independent achievement, and have excellent oral and written communication, data documentation, and presentation skills. 
·         Develop and execute protein purification procedures from plant tissues and bacterial, yeast, or insect cells.
·         Develop and validate enzyme assays and protein expression level assays
·         Perform protein characterization using a panel of analytical methods
·         Facilitate and participate in product safety assessments, including allergy studies
·         Manage studies under GLP requirements
·         Foster interactions with the international food allergy community through organizations such as AAAAI, EAACI and ILSI
·         Travel, 10%

Required skills/experience:
·         PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field of study
·         4+ years relevant work experience
·         Technical knowledge of and hands on experience with protein expression and purification
·         Proven track record of working with strict deadlines in a demanding and dynamic environment
·         Ability to handle multiple projects at one time
·         Excellent written communication, data documentation, and oral presentation skills
·         Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills
Desired skills/experience:
·         Knowledge of the basic mechanisms of allergic disease; experience working with plant-derived allergens is a plus
·         Knowledge of IgE detections techniques, including western blot, ELISA, and CAP-FEIA assays
·         Familiarity with plant physiology and biochemistry
·         Experience working with plant-derived proteins
