Position Title: Site HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) Lead

Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
This position will lead the Health, Safety and Environmental programs and activities for the Longmont and Berthoud, CO, and Grants Pass, OR Production sites. This includes all federal, state and local operational permitting. It is imperative that leadership provides consistent environment to exercise creativity and innovativeness without HSE risk. This will be supported through employee HSE commitment as opposed to compliance.

Accountabilities:
- Assure local compliance with OSHA and Syngenta training, record keeping and reporting requirements
- Provide HSE leadership, training and direction for all site personnel.
- Responsible for all monthly and annual HSE reporting for site and maintain records associated with both on a daily basis.
- Create and communicate safety training, meeting, SAMACO inspection schedules and ensure that schedules are followed.
- Prepare site for HSE internal and external audits of compliance with Syngenta and government regulations.
- Administer site safety rewards program.
- Resource for HSE questions for all site employees.
- Ensure the housekeeping model is implemented consistently - bringing a high degree of value to HSE and our customers
- Ensure employee orientation is complete for all FTE and 3rd party labor
- Support the E-team efforts on identifying root cause and improvement of process to meet the DPMO (defects per million opportunities) objectives
- Accountable for the emergency management system – ensuring all employees are well versed of the process
- Conduct customer tours and ensure all facility site tours are briefed on policy and provided applicable PPE
- Support plant and or field activities as appropriate
- Requires minimal supervision and direction.
- Contributes to teamwork and has significant external interaction.
- High level of complexity involving multiple tasks and requirements of varied technical skills.
- Ensure full implementation of HAZMAT requirements


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Critical knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; will consider appropriate experience.
- Ability to work with a variety of people and motivate them as to the importance of HSE.
- Achieve annual HSE objectives

Critical experience:
- Seed/agricultural industry experience preferred but not necessary
- Previous work with a multi-national organization is beneficial


Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:
- Knowledge of HSE regulations
- Ability to effectively train employees

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to use computer for significant periods of time
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended period of time when completing audits
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- May be exposed to heat, cold, noise and dust while performing job duties
- Must be able to work in both plant and office environment.
