Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
The purpose of the Research Associate is to lead the execution of cereals trials, strictly follow compliance guidelines and stewardship practices, and provide quality yield and agronomic data to assist scientists in delivering project goals by providing technical assistance, as well as to support site management with the functional activities of a breeding testing station.

Accountabilities: Provide quality yield and agronomic data within the scope of trialing primarily supporting cereals research.
Functioning as an integral member of a team responsible for packaging, planting, cultivating, scouting, managing and harvesting yield trials and bulk breeding nurseries.
Supporting efforts to maintain integrity of seed inventory, packaging, field layout, seed processing and data collection.
Follow all USDA and EPA compliance regulations and Syngenta stewardship guidelines.
Assist in maintenance and routine service of vehicles, field and specialized equipment allocated to the program.
Accurately executing experimental procedures that have been explained in general terms and recording all observations, data and results.
Working with scientists on team assignments to achieve project/product goals.
Providing day-to-day guidance to other personnel.
Performing all tasks and behaving in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety related company policies and practices, including completing all required Company training courses and attending local safety meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Critical knowledge: :
B.S. degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of breeding or other required scientific principles.

Critical Experience:
Experience in cereals research/production and/or farming operations and farm equipment operation.
Has or has ability to obtain a CDL, pesticide applicator’s license, and forklift operator’s certification.
