Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
Role purpose
The Technical Specialist is the subject matter expert for the Service Center in the weed science technical discipline. They are responsible for addressing customer inquiries via phone, fax and email. They are the primary escalaton point for customer inquiries from the Customer Resource Representatives and are responsible for a postive resolution of the customer need.

Additionally they lead the technical training efforts of the Service Center for herbicide product information, knowledge management and CRM systems. They participate in product liability matters for Syngenta including claims and litigations and manage the investigations of claims and evaluate their merit. They review labels prior to submission to EPA and white papers as required prior to distribution to assure that the language is appropriate for the intended use. They are also the primary management point for managing product quality issues with field sales and work with the relevant Supply Chain department to determine cause and proper resolution to the customer.

Additonal reponsibilities:

1.Interact with internal and external counsel regarding pending Legal claims.
2.Manage the investigation and resolution of assigned Crop Protection Product Liability Claims
3.Review assigned product labels prior to submission to EPA
4.Recommend Product/Crop Solutions to internal and external customers
5.Identify training needs and prepare and present herbicide and weed science technical information for training sessions. Includes training of sales reps. Grower groups, attorneys, etc.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Knowledge, experience & capabilities



Critical knowledge: :
-Serve as an expert in various fields for various needs. Identify and consult with inside and outside resources. Maintain excellent knowledge of diverse technology advances. Superior technical knowledge of herbicide crop protection products.

Critical experience:
-PhD in an agricultural science with emphasis on chemistry and weed science desired;
-Minimum 15 years of experience in Crop Protection or closely related discipline desired;
-Minimum of 10 years of field experience in the Crop Protection business desired; and/or
-Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:
-Excellent oral communication skills needed to participate in and/or lead: dealer, sales, business unit, state and federal agency meetings; Product Servicing Workshops; and testimony at deposition and trial. These skills must provide accuracy at a minimum liability exposure to Syngenta. These skills necessitate research, analysis and compiling data for various presentations. Excellent skills necessary to accurately disseminate technical information to various inside and outside customers through all electronic media

-Excellent written communication skills required for all correspondence to ensure accuracy and to maintain a minimum liability exposure to Syngenta. Write and edit significant division documents including white paper, legal correspondence, newsletters.
