Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a Large dairy operation located in New York is currently searching for a Herdsman with a strong reproduction background.  Hands-on duties will include:  managing herd reproduction (Ovsync injections, detecting heats and inseminating cows and heifers, performing palpation), administering BST, vaccinating and dry-off of cattle, routine sorting / moving of cattle, collecting milk samples, ID’ing cows, herd health and treatment, feeder supervision, occasional fill in for sick and fresh cow programs, observing / training milkers, providing direction to parlor manager, maintain protocols and provide input where modification is needed to insure optimum herd performance and worker efficiency, maintain and develop safety program administration, help develop criteria and monitor individual farm and staff performance while optimizing production, cow health and people performance while controlling input costs. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates must meet position qualifications and have demonstrated the necessary technical or job skills:

 

 - Experience working on a 500+ cow dairy

 - Experience / Knowledgeable with Dairy Comp 305

 - Ability to speak Dairy Spanish is a plus

 - Able to operate and maintain major mechanical aspects of the dairy including milking and ventilation systems
