Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
*To supply a key global resource for expertise, direction, and support in Quality Management to global Seeds R&D sites, functions, and projects.
*The primary objective is to evaluate and establish governance covering third party processes that are: determined by, and in compliance with, global policies, standards, and Quality Codes of Practice; integrated into the business area’s existing quality systems, encompassing both Regional and Functional business needs and covering strategic needs of Seeds and Crop Protection research projects, and continually evaluated and monitored for risk and continuous improvement.
*Identify and build professional /added-value relationships with colleagues within Regions and Functions to assess, design, and implement quality management processes to ensure that third party collaborations:
##Are monitored & controlled for identified risks to Syngenta according to global Quality requirements,
##Include traceability and control points with measurable objectives and specifications,
##Clearly define management engagement through roles and responsibilities in the processes,
##Include best practices in training and continuous improvement,
##Facilitate appropriate incident response and reporting, and
##Ensure full compliance with regulations and external certifications.
##Evaluate and report on new and prospective third parties for their ability to meet global Quality requirements.
##Develop and manage global third party database to track evaluation, selection, and monitoring of third party R&D collaborators relative to global Quality requirements.
##Develop, guide implementation, and maintain third party processes for conformance to global Quality requirements (e.g., incoming third party biological / biotech materials).
##Develop global training packages and programs to be used by contacts within Regions and key Functions (e.g., ALIP, Regulatory Compliance, Global Biotechnology, etc.) to ensure that Syngenta contacts are fully aware and accountable to adhere to Syngenta third party Quality requirements.
##Develop alliances and contacts through work on cross functional teams to facilitate communication regarding existing and potential collaborations with third parties. This includes areas such as: licensing, stewardship quality control, business development, and regulatory affairs.
##Perform all activities in accordance with Syngenta’s Code of Conduct, and Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: *University degree in a life science or chemistry field, with strong preference towards experience in Seeds R&D processes and practices. Post graduate training is preferred.
*Formal qualification in quality management (e.g., ASQ, Six-Sigma, Lean, or similar).
*Familiarity with process design, process mapping, project management, databases, and process improvement.
*Understanding of quality management principles and systems such as ISO and ETS.
*Five plus years experience in a leadership role in quality management systems. Experience in facilitating process risk assessments and team leadership.
*Work experience in the seed industry, agricultural sector, or laboratory testing is not essential but would be advantageous.
*Strong preference toward experience and understanding of legal processes associated with establishment of contracts, license agreements, collaboration terms, etc.
*Auditing experience, report writing, and corrective action of internal
*Strategic thinking with ability to maintain engaged and added value connections across global teams with a wide range of colleagues (e.g., senior management to operations).
*Knowledge and practical experience in establishing and maintaining data-bases to track third party compliance status, activity updates, project change status, etc. to ensure aligned and easy access to trait location, points of risk, compliance and audit schedule updates, etc. *Capability to influence and persuade others and to deliver constructive feedback effectively. *Skill in interviewing techniques and questioning to solicit high quality information about processes and risk.
*Ability to communicate with different types of individuals, cultures, and working styles.
*Technical writing skill and attention to detail.
*Process mapping, database management, reporting on critical trends, areas for improvement, and issue management. PMP Certification is preferred.
*Proactive, positive, “Can-Do” attitude to ensure a forward-looking, results-driven approach to third party Quality Management across regional and global Functions.
*Positive, professional demeanor to ensure added value interactions, particularly during times of challenge associated with stepping beyond comfort zone.
*Focus energy on must-wins.
*Develop self and others, and manages performance to a high standard, based upon the on-going pursuit of continuous improvement & functional excellence.
Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges: *Implement processes to control risk in areas of product development and research that have previously not been subject to quality systems and process controls.
*Clear communication of requirements to enable full compliance with Syngenta global Quality standards & QCoP’s across all Seeds and Crop Protection third party activities.
*Requires tact, diplomacy, and excellent interpersonal skills to be effective in establishing added-value and fit-for-purpose third party Quality requirements to ensure sustained implementation and commitment across Regions and key Functions.

*Eligible to work in the US.
*Travel varies from 5% to 40% depending upon seasonal needs.
