Reporting to a member of the Senior Manager Group that leads the Transportation and Logistics team, the Transportation Manager will lead a team of transportation professionals with accountability for securing competitive truck and rail freight to meet the needs of our business unit in Canada.
40% - Working collaboratively with the product lines and logistics team to secure transportation to execute our grain sales programs as well as fulfill our fertilizer movement needs.
20% - Lead the team and parties involved in maximizing the pipeline and unit train opportunities.
20% - Lead, develop and manage a team of Transportation professionals.
10% - Build and maintain relationships with and represent Cargill as it relates to transportation with various government agencies, industry association and suppliers.
10% - Develop and maintain a set of key performance indicators for truck and rail freight
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics/Transportation, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management OR equivalent work experience in Logistics, Transportation, Operations Management or Supply Chain
Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated leadership, conflict management, negotiating and strategic thinking skills
Knowledge and understanding of logistics and/or operations/merchandising
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
Supply Chain Management experience
Scheduling and/or production planning experience
