Monsanto is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting the activities of the on-site Breeder and Testing Operations Manager.
The Field Research Associate will have the opportunity to support the Breeder in coordinating various nurseries and in administering QA/QC, compliance, and safety procedures.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge technology and talented research scientists seeking to deliver the very best crop genetics.

  • Assist the Multi-Season Operations Manager in meeting the needs of all user groups.

  •  Supervise tillage activities to meet user group planting schedules.

  • Supervise the organization and planning of irrigation, fertigation and spraying schedules.

  •  Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of the research farms.

  • Supervise salaried and per diem personnel assigned to assist in farm activities.

  • Cooperate and coordinate with all research personnel and programs to maximize the efficient use of all resources in achieving the MSP goals.

  • Assist in providing support for the ESH and Human Resources programs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in biological field and 3 years research operations experience required.

  • Experienced in all aspects of tillage, fertigation, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation with regard to research nurseries.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical skills needed to maintain and operate farm machinery and research equipment.

  • Knowledge and understanding of nursery design and field layout.

  • Good computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheet programs.

  •  Ability to lead and motivate team members to achieve project goals.

  • Ability to function as a team member.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
