Murphy-Brown, part of Smithfield Foods, Inc., recently announced the expansion of their United States-based operations into Romania. The Smithfield Ferme project will create 1,758 new jobs in Romania between now an 2010.
This business venture will help Romania become one of the key players in the pork production industry within Europe. The addition of Smithfield Ferme in Romania helps to continue to build upon Smithfield Food's commitment to global presence.
Smithfield Ferme currently has 15 active farms with 44,000 sows, which produce approximately 780,000 pigs. Within the next six years, the strategy is to increase sow livestock to 200,000 sows that will ultimately produce 4,000,000 pigs per year.

Smithfield Ferme is looking for individuals originally from Romania who are studying in the United States and that may have interest in returning to their native country to work for a competitive organization that offers numerous opportunities for early advancement.
Individuals would be asked to train for six months at the Murphy-Brown system in North Carolina before returning to Smithfield Ferme in Romania. While in North Carolina, employees would have the opportunity to experience the work environment, daily duties and participate in leadership training.
